Wow! Never thought I would be talking to so many Vikettes!  I certainly remember those days when Lanier Vikettes "showed 'em all up". I considered trying out but, didn't have the legs for it!  Good luck girls, have a good time at your reunion. Post some pics!!

I was searching for Vikettes videos to show my daughter whose passion is dance (She takes classical ballet and other styles of dance.) and ran across this site. My Vikettes memories have stayed with me; I remember those years with such joy! I love seeing the photos. Mrs. King, you are beatutiful as ever! My love and best wishes to all Vikettes far and wide.

Of all of my memories from 1976-1980 at Lanier High School, I can't think of anything better at that school than the Vikettes. While I was a student there, it was a class act that was being led by a woman that instilled discipline & seemed to get the most talent out of her girls. I just wish we had leaders like this in our schools now. Even though I never personally met you Mrs King, you did a Wonderful job with these girls. I know you were tough, but each & every one of them owe you a lot! Finding a mentor like you at that age is very hard. Great job well done for all those years!

I just love looking at all these pictures. So many of our memories were destroyed by flooding. I dont know if I will be able to make it to the reunion. I keep such a busy schedule with triplets and running a network that is still early stage of operations but I hope to. Love all these great memories which gave me my early start and the confidence I needed to go for the glory in my career as a cheerleader and dancer.

What a treat! I have sweet memories of my time in Vikettes. I felt so honored to be chosen. Drew & I recently moved to Coppell, TX after 4 yrs in Florida. Our older son is a youth minister here. He & his wife have a 4yr old & 1yr old twin olds. Our younger son is a Marriage & Family Therapist in the area. He & his wife have a 9mo old. All boys! God has been especially sweet to us. We spend a lot of time playing Texas Hold 'em.  We moved back to Texas so we could hold 'em!

Ladies & Gents:
I am sitting here counting the hours until our yearly gathering honoring Mr. and Mrs. King as well as our V&V friends tomorrow at our yearly luncheon.
Stop for a moment with me, if you will, and just relish the "phenomenal sisterhood" that we have as we honor our God, country, family, friends, teachers, mentors, faith, hope, love, beliefs, morals, blessings and so much more that we all share because HE has blessed our lives. And, of course, HE brought the Kings into our lives while we were in high school.
And, low and behold, we are still all together again thirty years later . . . a miracle? No, I say, it is "our destiny" because we have been gifted to continue to pass the "love and grace" on and on and on . . .  forever. Amen.
Godspeed King Family (thanks for sharing your parents with us) and V & V sisterhood!

My little sister (Glenda Mears Caskey) just forwarded this website to me... she and I were in Vikettes throughout high school.  I graduated in '67 and Glenda in '68.  I am currently In Texas to visit family in Georgetown, Austin and Houston but when I return home in a few weeks I will look for pictures to add.   Mrs. King, you just don't change!  As my English teacher and mentor/teacher in Vikettes you were tops.

So many pictures have been added since I last visited the site.  Thanks to the people who have put in the work to make it possible.  Mrs. King, you look great.  We're still going through the drill team years with my youngest, and loving every minute.  It brings back memories.  I'd like to make it to a get-together in the future.

As my husband always says:
"You can take the girl out of Vikettes but you can't take the Vikette out of the girl!!! (or something like that.)

Mizz King--as per the photos in the album, you look fabulous, Dahling!!!
Also, FYI.. when the V&V Museum is finished, I will be glad to loan my pep rally uniform, pep shirt, along with the Hat and Miss High Kick trophies my mother has been saving since 1975!

While I won't be able to attend the reunion, I will see some of you Friday night on the boat. Thanks for all the work going into this web site and the chance to re-connect.

Hugs--
Brenda

Great Job on the Website.  Vikettes was such a wonderful thing to be a part of.  The stong loving leadership and amazing example that Mrs. King set for us was such a gift.  My daughters have entered the drill team world as drill team teachers and I love telling them how Mrs. King would have done it and reminding them of the influence they will have on so many.  From reading all the comments, I know that we were all so blessed to be a part of something wonderful.  I can't wait to see everyone.  It should be a fun day!

Thank you to all that makes our reunion a success!  Try-outs for Vikettes brings laughter to me every time I reflect on it!  My big sister(whom I will not identify to save her "face"! LOL!), told me "just remember to look up!"  That's what I did....up to the ceiling-never looking at the judges!! I did the routine fine, however, the judges would interrupt telling me to "look at them"....they had to have laughed as I kept my eyes on the ceiling!hehe!!  Anyway, I don't feel as I was one of the "favored ones" but knew that we all needed each other and what a team we made!!  I think the class of 77 was truly disappointed that the school board wouldn't allow us to try out for Nationals but I'm proud that the girls of 78 showed everyone what the Vikettes were made of!!! Of course, we could never be who we were without such a terrific leader and believer in us-Mizzzz King!  Thanks for the memories! :-)  Oasis best be ready for us this year as it only gets better! See you soon my 'sisters'!

Mrs. King -- you look amazing as always!  While I was never a Vikette, spending time around you while I was a manager and trainer for girls sports left a huge impression on me.  I guess my "Vikette" experience came later when I took dance lessons at your studio!  I can't wait to see photos from this year's reunion -- Leslee said I could come to the party, I may just surprise everyone!  Much love to you and your family.  Cheryl

This is so exciting!  I've been crying my eyes out while looking at this site!  So many wonderful memories!  My high school years were very, very, very difficult in my personal life and being in Vikettes was literally my only reason for living.  It was so much fun and it made me feel so special.  I always considered Mrs. King as a second mother.  What an awesome lady and a wonderful website!  Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
